Welcome to Module 3:
Conducting Key Informant Interviews
In Module 2, you were provided essential foundation of the Systems Approach to conducting Social Responsibility Assessments. The Systems Approach emphasizes the importance of gathering information from different sources to validate findings and strengthen your assessment. Internal stakeholders are an invaluable source of information, and as assessors, engaging with management and workers from the UoA is a vital part of the data-gathering process.
Module 3 will guide you through this process by providing specific preparations that need to be made before conducting an interview and the steps that need to be taken to ensure a more efficient data-gathering process.
The depth and representativeness of the information collected from fishers, workers, and other critical internal stakeholders determine the quality of the assessment findings and sets a social responsibility program apart from the rest.

Approaches to Interviewing

Free and Prior Informed Consent (FPIC)
Securing the informed consent from interviewees, whether a manager or a worker, is important in any interview
Gathering Information from Workers
We need to get reliable information about the workers’ experiences and what organization processes can be strengthened.
